The Colorado Convention Center has now been awarded LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is now in the top three largest convention centers who have received the LEED certification. This emphasizes their commitment to sustainability for both environmental & marketing impacts.
Key Sustainable Standards for the Colorado Convention Center • 32 percent of employees use alternative commuting options (the CCC participates in the city's bike-sharing program B-Cycle, with a 'B-Station' shown at right) • New plumbing fixtures reduce water usage by 27 percent • $1 million saved through energy efficiency • The facility produces 26 percent less carbon. • 50 percent of waste is diverted from landfills • 100 percent of durable goods are recycled • 30 percent of purchases for consumables are sustainable

TSA Increases Air Cargo Screening Requirements |

Effective May 1, TSA has increased the percentages of cargo that must be screened prior to being loaded onto a passenger aircraft inbound to for the U.S. These changes, while not yet requiring 100% levels, are part of the Congressional mandates required under the 9/11 Act. The screening percentages are Sensitive Security Information (SSI), however, the changes apply to all U.S. and foreign flag airlines operating into the U.S. |

Mayor Daley joined Chicago’s convention and tourism leaders on August 12th to announce the latest success story resulting from Illinois convention reform legislation.
The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) re-committed to Chicago for 2012, 2014 and 2016. IMTS is one of the country’s largest trade shows. Expected are more than 250,000 attendees and nearly $600 million in estimated spending in the city and the state over the period of the three shows.
Mayor Daley cited the IMTS announcement as further proof that reform legislation has had a “profound and positive” impact in making Chicago’s convention industry as competitive as ever.

ExhibitForce Changes Coming Soon |

The official release date of the version updates to ExhibitForce is August 31st.
The functionality remains primarily the same but the look is quite a bit different. The main difference you will notice is that there is no longer an Update button on several of the screens. On several pages, the system now uses technology that allows for real-time field change saves.
Other changes include the event status types. These are now: Pending (used to be Tentative), Submitted, Active and Cancelled.

Georgia World Congress Center Recycling News |

The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) diverted a total of 216.71 tons of waste from the landfill in 2009 through recycling (paper, plastic, aluminum and glass), baling cardboard and composting, a new initiative implemented last year. The GWCC diverted 96 tons through the first quarter of 2010.
